Novel surgical use of electrosurgical tip cleaners in subdermal excision for axillary osmidrosis

Background Axillary osmidrosis is a disease characterized by axillary malodor. The conventional treatment method of subdermal excision uses Metzenbaum scissors. Recently, using the Versajet system was introduced. However, it an expensive surgical tool, and recent study demonstrated higher frequency skin necrosis with Versajet. We propose novel, cost-effective, safe that utilizes electrosurgical tip cleaner (ETC).Methods Our retrospective cohort included 27 patients who underwent from June 2012 to November 2021. were classified into three groups according method: scissors, Versajet, ETC. operation time, hospitalization cost, postoperative complications investigated.Results number in ETC seven, eleven, nine, respectively. mean time cost significantly different among (P<0.05). longest observed scissors group (112.9±23.6 minutes), followed (76.4±27.1 64.2±24.8 minutes, respectively). most ($2,346.1±517.7), ($1,391.8±317.7 $1,279.6±287.5, No observed.Conclusions novel excision, comparable or Therefore, recommended for situations where necessary consider both surgery.
